Sita Upanishad

Sita Upanishad ((サンスクリット:सीता उपनिषत्)) also known as Sitopanishad is one of the traditionally known 108 Upanishads in Hindu scriptures, written in Sanskrit. It is one of the 31 Upanishad's under the Atharva-Veda, and is one of the nine Shakta Upanishads. It is categorized as a late Upanishad in which Sita is extolled as the supreme goddess. The Upanishad identifies Sita with Prakrti (nature) which is constituted by "will" ichha, activity (kriya) and knowledge (jnana).
A significant interpretation of this Upanishad is that the entire cosmos is combined in one pinhole in the heart, which remains mostly closed and is opened by Vichara (investigation into the Self). The result is "I-I" consciousness, the same as Samadhi, the ultimate stage of meditation.
==Contents==
The Upanishad begins and ends with a general prayer to the gods and then notes the deities Indra, Pushan (Vedic solar deity), Taksya, and Brihaspati in particular. The prayer ends with the wish that let there be Peace. The Upanishad has 37 verses in one chapter and is narrated as an exchange between Prajapati and the god.
Gods query Prajapati on Sita's antecedents and her features. Prajapatti explains that Sita represents Prakriti or nature. Her intrinsic quality is an illusion or maya.〔 The name Sita, signifies pranava or “om”. Each letter of this name has specific meaning with the “I” signifying maya or illusion in an unchanging form, “sa” indicating satya or eternal truth, and “ta” denoting the goddess of speech conjoined with Brahman.〔
She is free from change. She has no blemishes and is decorated with jewelry. She represents the vocal form of the four Vedas (Rigveda, Yajurveda, Samaveda, and Atharvaveda). She emerged while furrowing, at the edge of the plough.〔
She provides sustenance in the world to everyone. She is all pervading. She lights up everything in all worlds. "The wheel of time and the wheel of the Universe" are her personifications.〔 Evolution and preservation are her visionary domain. She is equated to the essence of yoga. She resides in god's right part of the heart as Srivatsa. All gods and divinities encircle her in reverence. She has supernatural powers. The scriptures praise her.
Her perceived form is comparable to that of the moon with well proportioned limbs bedecked with jewelry. The vedas are her personification and she also personifies the three goddesses Shri (goddess of prosperity) and Lakshmi, Bhumi (mother earth, of the seven islands and the seas, and fourteen worlds), and Nila, the third consort of Vishnu representing the sun, the moon, and the fire.
Sita, manifested as moon. is the ruler of all types of plants, fruits, flowers and medicinal herbs and physicians. She even gives ambrosia to divine beings and sustenance to animals.
